2 Days To Go (Dad's Van, Duruflé and Dysentery)
It might be two days until the cycle from John O'Groats begins, but the adventure really began today with bike collection from Evans Cycles, a gorgeous concert in St James's Sussex Gardens and the start of the long journey up to Scotland.
With last bits of packing complete, we met up to see Phill at Evans in King's Cross this afternoon, collecting our bikes, completing the shopping and noting as much of his sage wisdom as we could. Bikes, gloves, bottles, protein powders and three pots of Chamois cream later (google it) and we were off to our launch event.
We've been rehearsing (England v Colombia allowing) all evening, every evening this week to get our programme spick and span before it comes under the pressure of a day in the saddle and it was such a joy to share it with our family and friends in London before the departure.
At 9pm sharp, we threw the bikes in the back of the support van and ran for our Caledonian Sleeper trains to Scotland. See you in Glasgow in the morning!
Thank you to our sponsors Evans Cycles and Caledonian Sleeper, as well as St James's Sussex Gardens for the use of their stunning acoustic.
